Officially a Toddler!

This past week has been very exciting in the Silver home! Last Monday Charley stood up by herself for the first time. Then on Tuesday she took 3 steps, by herself. On Thursday she took five steps and then on Friday morning she stood up and walked across the room!!

Since Friday she has been walking all over the house! She is even starting to walk while holding toys in her hands. There is no stopping her now! It is so adorable to see her walking around. And she is so proud of herself!

Since Charley started walking everybody has wanted to see it first hand! She literally started walking right before Grandpa and Lola came to visit us on Friday and then on Sunday Oma came over, and on Monday ZiZi and Oma came over to see our little toddler!

Here are some pictures and video of our little toddler!

These pictures are from Friday night. Once she started walking she didn't want to stop!

She did take a break from walking to get some play time in with Grandpa and Lola. She even sat and watched her favorite Barney show with Grandpa while mommy cooked dinner.

A House Divided

Super Bowl this year was a pretty big deal in the Silver house. Darrin's family are multiple generations of 49er fans. And most of the time I would be too. But this year the Baltimore Ravens were in the Super Bowl too.

I started liking the Ravens several years ago when the movie The Blindside came out. I just loved the story of Michael Oher so much that I started to cheer for the Ravens. In all actuality I am probably more a Michael Oher fan but since he's currently playing for the Ravens then that makes me a Ravens fan.

Darrin's family loves sports and so they thought it was cute that I was showing interest in football even if it was for the Ravens. That was until the Ravens won the playoffs and would be playing against the 49ers this year in The Big Game!

Pop called me a few days before the game and was doing a bit of trash talking so we decided to make a friendly bet of two dollars on the game. Everyone came over on Sunday and I was the lone duck cheering for the Ravens. Luckily no one disowned me!

The 49er fans!
We had a fun time watching the game and most of the commercials. (Check out my motherhood later blog to hear more about the commercials!) The game had many ups and downs but in the end Michael Oher and the Ravens pulled it off. Luckily I had bought some sympathy cupcakes to have on hand for the 49er fans!

Is She Walking Yet?

For the past few months the question on everyone's mind is, "Is she walking yet?" Charley has been quite content with crawling since her birthday and really there is no rush. I've just been following her lead and I knew that when she is ready she will walk. I mean how many 12 year olds do you know who don't walk?

Over the past two weeks Charley has become much more interested in walking. It seems like she just woke up one day wanted us to hold her hands. It's exciting to see her growing up but my heart breaks a little at the same time. I'm not ready for her not to be a baby anymore!

Here are a few videos of her walking with her baby stroller and holding my hands. It really is the cutest thing to see her walking.

Wrapping up our visit to Albuquerque

On one of our last days visiting Grandma and Grandpa we took Charley to the Albuquerque Aquarium. When we were in Vegas in June Charley was mesmerized but an aquarium that we saw in one of the hotels so Darrin and I thought she would love going to the Aquarium. She did enjoy it but she was much more interested in the people then the fish! Go figure! We did get a few picks of her actually looking at the fish. And we had a fun day hanging out with Grandma.

On our last evening in Albuquerque we celebrated my dad and Masha's birthday. We went to dinner at Los Cuates with Grandma, Auntie Katie, Uncle Skyler, Auntie Becca, Bailey, Cassia, Diana, and Saudi. I was so happy that we were going to Los Cuates so I could get some green chili chicken enchiladas and sopapillas!!!

Visiting With Family

After Nana's birthday party we spent a few days visiting with Aunt Mar, Uncle Donnie, Aunt Jo, and Nana. We also went to Rio Rancho on New Years Eve day and spent time with my Aunt Jeanette, my cousin John, his wife Brittany, and their ten month old daughter Cailynn. It was really fun to have some one on one time with everyone!

Charley loved playing with Uncle Donnie!

Aunt Mar had coloring books and Charley enjoyed making marks with the crayons. This was her first time holding a crayon and I was amazed at her awesome grasp for being so young!

The night after Nana's party Aunt Mar had the Fitzpatrick clan over for dinner and I made sure to get a four generation photo this time!

Each morning at Aunt Mar's we woke up to see hot air balloons but one afternoon we looked out her back door and the balloons were right there! It was so awesome to see the balloons. It s truly one of the things that I miss most about Albuquerque!
Uncle Donnie was determined to get a photo holding Charley. On the last night of our visit he was successful, if only it was for a few seconds!
Thanks for everything Aunt Mar and Uncle Donnie! We love you guys!
I thought this picture was so cute!

Charley liked looking at Aunt Jet's dog Randy but I think she was glad there was a glass door between them.

Nana's 90th Birthday Celebration

My grandma turned 90 on January 16th but since we were all going to be in Albuquerque for the holidays this year my mom and Becca thought it would be nice to have a birthday party for her. Becca and my mom did a great job organizing it at Trombino's Italian Restaurant. And Becca made a memory book that each of us contributed to. And the icing on the cake was that Katie and Skyler surprised Grandma by bringing my Aunt Jo to the party!! She was so surprised and thrilled to have all of her kids there!

The Fitzpatrick Clan at Trombino's we almost took up a whole room!

Family Traditions

One family tradition we have is that we always do a Christmas present exchange with the Herrera family. The Herrera's have been my parents neighbors for 27 years! They are most definitely part of our family. Their daughter Saudi is a year younger then me and we are very much like sisters. No visit to New Mexico would be complete without spending time with our Herrera Family.

Charley got a marionette Cat, and Saudi gave me a beautiful infinity scarf! And no Herrera Christmas exchange would be complete without a fruit cake!

Thank you Diana and Saudi! We love you guys!
